Brittany Rogers happily juggles the roles of mother, wife, poet, educator, and mentor on a daily basis. She obtained both her Bachelors and Masters Degrees in the area of English Education, and uses that background to fuel her student’s love for reading, poetry, and language. In addition to teaching at the high school level in the Detroit Public School System, Rogers has been writing since her sophomore year in high school, and has since been privileged to be a member of a Collegiate Level Slam team, in addition to co-facilitating after school groups and teaching numerous poetry workshops on behalf of Insideout Literary Arts Project.
P.E.A.C.E. has been writing poetry since the age of 9,only to evolve to conscious rap,performance poetry and music. PEACE accepted a challenge and stepped out to participate in her first poetry slam, and won 1st place in 2008.
Shortly after, she entered the Detroit "Bring It"Talent Competition and again won 1st place in the category of Spoken Word,Rap and Comedy. PEACE was an intricate part of former Councilman Kwame Kenyatta's 40 school "Pride Tour" & the "Cease Fire" Initiative spearheaded by radio personality Reggie Reggie Davis. PEACE continues to move crowds with her energetic wordplay and credits her former D.I. experience, training & national team championships to her love of competing. Her current projects include writing in preparation for publishing her first book entitled "Late Bloomer" ,working on her second recording project to accompany her book ,touring and feature performances. Recent accomplishments 2014 Grand Slam Champion Host of the weekly Thursday "Open Mind Mic Series" @They Say Jassmine Parks is a writer, spoken word poet, activist and above all: CONQUEROR!
Though born in Detroit, MI, Jassmine moved as a small child to the fringes of the city, to the suburb of Romulus. Jassmine’s poetry reflects her life’s principles: transparency, authenticity and vulnerability. She looks to show the audience who she is in totality. She realizes that baring both scars and beauty reveals the core of the human experience. Jassmine believes that stories emit the aura of healing. Words have the power to transform experiences by attaching meaning. Jassmine is a member of the 2015 Detroit Poetry Slam Team. She is ranked 5th in the Midwest for her performance poetry. She was published in The University of Michigan-Dearborn’s journal, Lyceum. She has also been recruited as a house performer for Take Back the Night, a program that disseminates and challenges domestic violence and sexual assault. She has also performed in Eve Ensler’s, “The Vagina Monologues.” Jassmine is looking forward to adding her aspirations to act and model to her performance resume. She also has a desire to speak at motivational engagements. Currently, she is working on to complete her first full collection of work. Ajanae Dawkins is a University of Madison student and a First Wave scholar currently studying briefly in Morocco. Ajanae loves the craft of poetry and holds a deep appreciation for the beauty of words. A member of the first Michigan Louder Than A Bomb championship slam team, and a member of the Witness Collective, Ajanae is excited about going to the next level in performance poetry and representing her home state.
